Dr. Chinna Venkateshwar

Water Reclamation and Technology

Dr. Venkateshwar is an award winning senior research scientist in water technology energy and pharmacognostic studies.  As a published professor and inventor, he brings to WSG patented water reclamation technology along with over 30 years field experience in science and innovation. He is the Senior Research scientist within WSG's Technology arm, leading a research organization that aims to develop cost-effective and practical technologies to safeguard the environment.  He is currently a professor in the Department of Botany, University College of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. He previously worked with the Counsel for Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi, India and in the capacity of Scientist B at Industrial Toxicology Research Center.

He has invented innovative technology used in water reclamation to rid ground water of fluoride and arsenic.  This ground-breaking research in regions where hydro-fluorosis is a severe health hazard will positively impact the lives of 6.2 million people in rural India.  He pioneered Chemical STP, his novel technology for decontaminating the five contaminated lakes across Hyderabad, India.

Dr. Venkateshwar was awarded his PhD for his Pharmacognostic studies on Indian medicinal plant Apocynaceae.  His further research included the phytoevaluation of crop plants on exposure to sulphur-dioxide gas air pollutants.  Another current project is on the standardization of Ayurvedic drugs. He also carried out environmental impact assessment studies for the National Power Corporation of India and the Indian Telephone Industry Ltd which is a Government of India undertaking. He has been awarded the CSIR Technology national award, the UGC National Research Award, for his topic “Pollution Abatement Technology conversion of major polluted lake and sewage into potable water and their evaluation in A.P”. His patents include the Tannery Effluent treatment, power generator by chemical reaction, power generation by earth gravitational and air application, safe drinking water by special clay water filters, sewage water conversion to potable water and an effluent treatment process for the galvanizing industries.

Dr. Venkateshwar has wide experience in teaching at the under-graduate and graduate level in Medicinal Botany & Pharmacognosy. He has 10 papers published in national and international academic journals and has attended a wide range of conferences and presented academic papers.
