Leonard Sonnenschein is CEO of World Aquarium - A Children’s Place and in the past 25 years has built and operated 4 public aquariums.  Currently president of the Conservation for the Oceans Foundation, he supervises students coming from over 50 universities doing research in its laboratories in sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, coral and coastal restoration, soil and water remediation, and drought resistance.

 

As the United Nations representative for St. Louis Aquacenter, Inc. with official consultative status under ECOSOC, Leonard regularly consults on issues relating to climate change, health, education, and multi-stakeholder engagement, especially related to water and the ocean. By developing an innovation centre he regularly invents solutions to global problems that are brought from the lab bench to independent field trials for many validated products and eco-services in areas such as: aquaculture and fisheries improvements, coral reef restoration, agriculture services including soil rehabilitation, organic pesticides, fertilizer reduction, improved organic based crop production and product nutritional density, multi-stakeholder engagement and community support.
